Huntertown is a village in Lancaster County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 43 at the 2010 census.
The village is named after its first postmaster, Elias Hunter, who was appointed in 1873. The town was platted in 1875. The village site was the traditional camping ground for the Pawnee, a plains tribe. Huntertown's economy was originally based on railroad construction, lumber, and other related trades.
The first school house was built in 1880. At one point the community also had a store, blacksmith shop, ice cream shop, dance hall, livery stable, and several other businesses.
The town has remained small and rural. Its economy is now based largely on family farms. There is an active community center, which sponsors several events each year, including an annual picnic in August, which features a hog roast, ice cream social, and musical entertainment.
