Whiteland is a village in Blaine County Nebraska, United States. The population was 245 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Blaine County. The village was founded in 1885 after local ranchers donated land for its establishment. It is named after the original settlers, who were mostly of English and Scottish descent and owned white horses.
Whiteland is the site of a number of historical landmarks, including the well-preserved Whiteland Town Hall, a Gothic Revival brick building dating from the late 19th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The Blaine County Courthouse is a Classical Revival-style building constructed in 1890. It was the first brick building in the county and was also listed on the National Register in 1986.
The village is home to the annual Whiteland Pie Social, held each August. The event features homemade pies made by Whiteland residents, as well as a parade, music, and a variety of other activities.
