Winchester is a city in Adams County, Nebraska, United States. The city was platted in 1880 by early settler James Munroe and was incorporated later that year. The population was 881 at the 2010 census.

Winchester is located at 40°56'13" North, 98°00'27" West (40.937015, -98.007270), at an elevation of approximately 1432 feet (436 m).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.48 square miles (3.84 km2), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 881 people, 374 households, and 237 families residing in the city. The population density was 595.9 inhabitants per square mile (230.0/km2). There were 416 housing units at an average density of 282.4 per square mile (109.1/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.5% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 2.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 374 households of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.3% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.0% were non-families. 32.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 3.02.
The median age in the city was 37.8 years. 25.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.3% were from 25 to 44; 24.9% were from 45 to 64; and 19.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.2% male and 51.8% female.
