Clarksville is a city located in Colfax County, Nebraska. It is situated approximately 30 miles west of Norfolk, Nebraska. The population of Clarksville was 313 in the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Colfax County.
The city of Clarksville was established in 1885 when the Fremont, Elkhorn, and Missouri Valley Railway Company extended a line from Norfolk to Fremont. The town was named after William C. Clark, a settler in the area.
In addition to being the county seat for Colfax County, Clarksville is the home of the College of Saint Mary’s, a private college offering baccalaureate and associate degrees. The college is affiliated with the Benedictine Sisters and has been in Clarksville since 1926.
