Hebron is located in Thayer County in the state of Nebraska, and is the county seat. The city is situated at the junction of U.S. Highway 81 and 6, and is located about 40 miles west of York and 50 miles south of Fremont.
Hebron was founded in 1885 along the Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad. The city was named after the Biblical city of Hebron, as was previously mentioned, and was incorporated in 1890.
