Paoli is a village in Lancaster County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 77 as of the 2010 census.
The village was established in 1879 by settlers from the Old Order Amish Church. It was named after Thomas Paoli, a 15th century Italian physician, philosopher, and poet who wrote about eastward migration.
Most of the villagers are members of the Old Order Amish Church and farm the surrounding area. Others are small business owners such as craftsmen, sewing specialists, and cabinet makers.
The village is self-governing, with a mayor and council persons elected from its own population.
The community hosts the annual Lancaster County Amish Auction at the Paoli Auction Barn, where residents can purchase traditional Amish furniture, tools, and other items.
The village is served by the Paoli Public Library, which is housed in a former one-room schoolhouse that served the community until 1962. The library serves as a contrast to the majority of the plain buildings and homes in the village.
