Shorewood Forest is a city in Madison County in Nebraska in the United States. It is located 18 miles southwest of Norfolk and has been an incorporated city since April 5, 1979. The city has a population estimated to be around 648 as of 2019. The main industry for this community is agriculture, with the land being mostly agricultural and several grain elevators located near the city limits. Many of the residents are also employed in area businesses, including the Tyson Foods plant in Norfolk.
The community was named after a nearby forest, largely composed of oak and hardwood trees, which was known as the Shorewood Forest. The area was first settled by homesteaders in the late 1800s. A post office was opened in the area in 1895, and a town was platted shortly thereafter. Throughout the years, Shorewood Forest grew as more people moved to the area and businesses began to open in town.
