Syracuse, Nebraska is located in Otoe County and is part of the Lincoln, Nebraska metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1869 and was originally called Palmyra. It was renamed Syracuse after the New York town of the same name in 1878. It was incorporated in 1889. The population was 1,977 as of 2019.
