Spencer is a village in northeastern Clay County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 124 at the 2010 census. The village was platted in 1871 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for one its founders, a railroad contractor.
Historically, Spencer was a farming community, with corn, wheat, and alfalfa being the primary crops. Today, in addition to farming, the town has a County Line Store that sells hardware, gas, and convenience items. Other local businesses include a thriving greenhouse operation and a welding shop.
Spencer is home to the St. Paul's Lutheran church, a Catholic Church, and a garage. There is also a volunteer fire department, and a youth baseball and softball program. The Spencer Public Schools consist of grades Pre-K through 12th.
