Why, in the Bill of Rights, is the right to a speedy trial a separate amendment from the right to a trial by jury?

The right of a speedy trial comes from a problem where people accused of a crime were held in prison until they could be tried. However, they would be sent to prison for long indefinite periods which acted as a de facto punishment without proof of guilt. A modern example would be the prisoners at GuantΓ‘namo Bay.

So the protection from this abuse of justice guaranteed (to citizens) by the US Constitution is quite a different right than the right that the trial be by jury.
