Schuyler is a city located in Colfax County, Nebraska. The city was founded in 1888 and was named after former New York governor Philip Schuyler. According to the 2010 census, Schuyler had a population of 7,571. It is home to a variety of businesses, schools, churches, and other community organizations. Industries in the area include agriculture and manufacturing. Schuyler is located approximately 100 miles west of Omaha and is part of the Omaha metropolitan area. The city is served by the Schuyler Community Schools and the Schuyler Community Hospital. The city has traditionally been predominantly Czech. The St. Mary Catholic Church and National Shrine in Schuyler is a major Catholic pilgrimage destination in the Midwest.
