Tuskegee is a city located in Macon County, Alabama. It was founded in 1833 by William Whitney Adams and was incorporated in 1843. The city is most famous for being the location of the Tuskegee Institute (now known as Tuskegee University) that was founded by Booker T. Washington in 1881. The city is also known for being the birthplace of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American military pilots who fought in World War II.
Tuskegee is part of the Tuskegee-Macon County Metropolitan Statistical Area, and has a population of approximately 9,865 (as of the 2010 census).
