How does the Starwood Hotels in-app check-in work for affiliates without a keyless entry system?

After returning from this property, the answer is no. They have the NFC card readers on the doors and the keys have the RFID chips in them, but they do not have the Keyless enabled, and therefore you are unable to do an online check-in prior to arrival. Which in this day and age seems frustrating as we had to wait in line for 20+ minutes to just get our keys.
