Dothan is the largest city in Houston County, Alabama, United States, and the county seat. It is the principal city of the Dothan metropolitan area, which encompasses all of Houston, Henry, and Dale counties. The population at the 2010 Census was 65,496.

Dothan was founded in 1885 and incorporated as a town in 1903. It was named after the Bible city, and is referred to as the “Peanut Capital of the World,” due to its large peanut-growing industry. The city’s economy revolves around agriculture, particularly peanuts, cotton, soybeans, and timber. It also serves as a major connecting point for Interstate 10 and is home to Dothan Regional Airport.
