Bay Minette is a city located in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Baldwin County and it is located on the Tensaw River 35 miles north and east of Mobile. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of 8,044.

It was established in 1819 and is named for Lt. Francis de la Mota, a Spanish officer who was posted at what is now Pensacola, having been named for Don Pedro de la Mota, a Spanish governor in the 1700s. The first settlers moved to the site many years earlier and it became an important trading center following the arrival of the railroad in the late 1800s.

The city is home to the William F. Green State Veterans Memorial Cemetery and a State of Alabama Historic Site, The Historical Museum of Baldwin County, located in the old City Hall Building. Bay Minette is the birth place of jazz great Hank Williams, Sr.
