Windsor is located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, just on the opposite side of the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan in the United States. The city dates back to the 18th century, when French fur traders arrived and named the area after the town of Windsor, Berkshire in England.
At the time of the first European settlement, the area was inhabited by First Nations (Indigenous) people who called the area Petite Cote (Little Cove). Over the years, the area has grown to become one of Canada’s largest cities with a population of over 210,000.
