Pine Hills is a census-designated place located in Orange County, Florida. It is a suburban area west of Orlando and is bordered by East Orange, Sky Lake and Ocoee. As of the 2010 census, the population of Pine Hills was 60,076.
The area was originally known as Pine Hills from its numerous pine trees, and in 1957 was developed by the Greater Orlando Corporation. After the opening of the Pine Hills Shopping Plaza in 1961, development was moved to the area and subsequently incorporated into the City of Orlando in 1965.
The area has experienced a significant population growth since the 1990s as a result of annexation and expansion by Orlando. As of 2010, Pine Hills was the most populous place in Orange County and the fifth most populous in Central Florida, with a median household income of $30,521.
