Troy is a city located in Pike County, Alabama. Troy is the county seat of Pike County. It is the principal city of the Troy, Alabama Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Pike County. The city is located in the nice southeastern corner of the state, and is approximately a 45-minute drive from the capital of Montgomery.

The area around Troy was first explored and inhabited by the Creek Indians prior to European settlement in the area. In 1820, the city was officially established and incorporated as Troy. However, its modern existence is believed to come out of the mid 1800s when the railroad arrived in Troy.

Troy is home to Troy University, a public university established in 1887. It is also home to the Army Aviation Support Facility. The city has two historic districts and is known for its annual events such as the Pike County Peach Festival and the Troy Fest.
