What does Revelation 6:12 mean?

the sixth seal (rev 6:12-13) are prophecies that have already been fulfilled, it is the sign of the opening and establishment of the new world., where people went to escape religious prosecution.

verse 12 gives us three signs signifying the sixth seal being opened.

"and lo there was a great earthquake"

Great earthquake of Lisbon 1755 which killed a huge amount of people and was one of the biggest earthquakes in history

"and the sun became black as a sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood"

the dark day of New England may 19th 1780 it was dark in the daytime, and the moon was red.

"and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth , even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs"

The great meteor shower of 1833 when countless meteors shot across the sky, and the meteors appeared to fly in all directions, and has been one of the biggest meteor showers in recorded history.

notice how all these events happened in the order that rev 6:12-13 puts them in.

But these are only telling us that we are close, but we will never know how close. Because we cannot guess when the day will come, because he comes as a thief in the night, and people will not be prepared for his coming. we can only look to the signs and prophecies that signify that his coming is close, but not yet.

If I may, Revelation 6:12 is written for those who will be living during that time. This next verse should be the focus of those working on a diagram of the end times: 2 Thessalonians 2:4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

These next verses state various events that will happen. Of note is that Joel says salvation is available for the asking before "the great and awesome day of the LORD comes".

Joel 2 …30"I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke. 31"The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. 32"And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

Acts 2 …15"For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; 16but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;…

Revelation 6 12I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.… (note: stars refers to the fallen angels; In all other instances of a black sun and a red moon there was no instance of angels falling to the earth)

Luke 21 …8And He said, "See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not go after them. 9"When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately." (note: There are many things that must happen but the end is not immediate. When the antichrist enters the temple, that will signal the beginning of the end.)
